Lisa Niday - Sunday, May 20, 2012

Injuries were mounting quickly as 2 bull riders (Robson Palermo and Guilherme Marchi) opted to not ride in the championship round, although they were qualified. It's clear it is the last event before the summer break and the bull riders will get a much needed two month break to recuperate and heal.

The championship round was a draft round and Valdiron de Oliveira went in seeded first with 260 points and chose Jack Daniel's After Party. Fellow Brazilian, Renato Nunes (see the video below) was a mere .5 point behind Valdiron and chose Bucking Machine. LJ Jenkins chose Rowdy All Night and Ben Jones took Grey Squirrel. Luke Snyder went with Carrillo Cartel having posted 176.50 points for the event. Fabiano Veira, Silvano Alves, Jarrod Craig, Cody Nance and Harve Stewart completed the championship field of 10.

Harve Stewart who earned his way to the Championship Round via injuries to Brazilian riders, Marchi and Palermo, capitalized quickly by posting 89.5 points on Josey Wales. This ride would prove to catapult him to 4th place overall in the event standings with 177.5 points. LJ Jenkins, who is currently third in the world standings, posted an 88.25 on Rowdy All Night to finish the day in second place overall, but moving him to second place in the world standings. The Championship round winner and Pueblo Invitational winner was 2010 World Champion Renato Nunes, who posted 90 points on Bucking Machine and scored 349.50 in the average and moved up to 7th place in the world standings. Valdiron, although he bucked off in the championship round, posted 260 points and a third place finish in the event. Fourth place belonged to Ben Jones.
