Mark Brown’s Suggested “Tools of the Travel Trade”

During my interview with Mark Brown, President of Island Breeze Travel, he shared the mobile apps and social sites he uses most often. Here is a list of Mark’s favorites  –

The Kayak App –

One of Mark’s favorite apps is the FREE Kayak mobile app. He uses this app every day to monitor flights or flight rates. He makes hotel, air, and car reservations with this app. He can also post a screen shot of flight information to a customer’s Facebook wall. Kayak creates a trip agenda, which he can share with another app called TripIt.  (Lisa has been using TripIt since it's inception and reviewed it here). Either app is able to store multiple trip information all in one place. Kayak’s flight monitoring tool is extremely accurate and allows him to monitor his customer’s flight throughout their journey.

He uses Tripit and Kayak’s Price Alert feature every day. The price alert feature allows him to monitor prices for a specific destination, sending immediate alerts to his phone and e-mail when a price change occurs. Kayak also has a Price Loader feature. Most of the major airline's current rates are available through this app, which provides airfare costs, airline fees, airport directories, a currency converter, it will even generate a packing list for the non-experienced traveler.

The Atlantis Resort App –

Atlantis Resort offers a FREE mobile app to help guests monitor the resort's calendar of events and easily navigate their 300+ acres of water park, marine habitat, restaurants, nightlife, and room accommodations.

Social Networking Sites & Business Software –

Mark also uses Facebook, Skype, Twitter, and Wordpress on a regular basis. He interacts with his customers via Facebook. Island Breeze Travel has a company fan page to drive new travel leads to his business. When he is “on property” at one of the resorts he will use Wordpress to post photos to his Facebook page or other sites. He uses Twitter to share news bites or special offer communications.

Mark’s video editing choices are Apple iMovie and UStream. These tools are used to create vacation movies, which are easily posted to his social site pages. UStream is a video broadcaster. Mark can record live sequences from a particular resort and post them using the resort’s excellent pool side WIFI connection or from his room. They will immediately post to his FaceBook page.

WordPress is his software choice to create beautiful web sites or compelling blogs.
