Top 10 Places I Have Been from a 12 Year-Old

Lisa Niday - Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Top ten lists gained their fame on David Letterman's show, but have you ever thought about your top 10 list of where you have traveled? This column was inspired and partially written by my grandsons. Wyatt suggested I write a top 10 places to go this summer column. I thought the two grandsons should be contributors. The two of them each came up with top 10 lists and then I added mine. In the process, we determined we needed two lists. One where we want to go and the other where we have been. Clearly this will be different based on our ages, but nonetheless informative. Read more

Day Tripping in the Lone Star State-Abilene

Lisa Niday - Thursday, April 28, 2011

The first attraction I visited was Frontier Texas! This is a technologically advanced, multimedia museum which showcases the history of the area from 1780-1880. From the time I began the tour until the end, I was continually engaged and not once did I get bored on the tour. There are multiple holographic “spirit guides” which help guide the tour and who represent real people who lived during the frontier days. The different guides are projected on screen throughout the tour and tell different parts of their stories and how the times affected them. Many of the different areas of the museum were interactive and made so visitors could touch and move things. The tour final takes place in a theater with large projection screens around the walls in a circle. With the screens surrounding the audience, it helps give the viewers the sense of being in the middle of all the action, including an Indian raid and a buffalo stampede. All the interaction and different media really keep visitors fully engaged and help make learning about the frontier days fun and exciting. Read more

I haven't had the chance to write in awhile, have been busy with the day job. I just hate it when that happens. The day job has taken me to lots of destinations recently so I'm just going to write a little about each and nothing extensive. If you want to read more about San Diego and Nashville check out the blog post links. I have since been back to Nashville and would encourage you to check out these blog posts on Nashville, as well. Read more

The Newly Designed Courtyard

Lisa Niday - Sunday, November 15, 2009

I just completed a trip staying in a Courtyard Dallas Plano Parkway, which has been totally redesigned. I was so impressed by the redesign, I felt it was worth a mention. For those of you who don't know, I spend at least 75 days a year in a hotel, so it takes a lot to impress me. Read more
